Are you planning to take an English test and want to practice before the big day? Are you unsure of what aspect of the English language you should work on to give yourself the best chance? Global Lingua has some tips on how to prepare for an English test or exam.
There are many different English tests, whether it is to prove your level of English before entering a school or university, to check your level of English before changing jobs, or simply to find out your level of English. Thanks to Global Lingua's online courses, it is possible to prepare for several English exams:
Global Lingua teachers are familiar with all of these English tests and can help you prepare for them during private online classes. But if you want to be on the safe side for your future English exam, here are some tips to follow.
It can be difficult to prepare for an English test on your own. First of all, how do you stay motivated until the day of the test? And how do you ensure that you are prepared for all parts of the test? The most important thing is to stay focused and to remember your goals.
Learn about the English test process. Start by learning more about the test you're taking. Most English tests have several parts focusing on reading, listening, writing and speaking. Also, find out how long each section is, as this can help you study more efficiently! Some students skip the speaking part, but it is important to be able to hold a conversation for 10, 15 or 20 minutes.
Be honest about your strengths and weaknesses. You may be good at conjugation, quick to retain vocabulary, or have an incredible accent. That's great, but don't forget to study the things that give you more trouble! Try to make a list of your weakest points to work on first: this will only improve your self-confidence.
Make a (realistic) revision schedule. If you know when your next English test is, that's great! You'll know exactly how much time you have to get all your studying done. Make sure you write it down in your schedule. Audiobooks on Monday, writing exercises on Tuesday, vocabulary lists on Wednesday... and most importantly, a movie on Saturday!
Vary your learning materials. As the English exam approaches, you will probably want to take some mock exams found online. This is a good way to get yourself in the mood for the test and know what to expect on the day. But it would be a shame to rely solely on that. Turn to exercise books, YouTube videos, newspaper or blog articles written in English, flashcards and try to talk to a native English speaker!
When looking for a variety of learning resources to prepare for an English test, the Internet is the place to be. There are many ways to improve your English online, so why not?
Take private online classes. To make sure you reach your goals, it's important to give yourself the means to do so. Taking group English classes is great, but to ensure you make progress, it's better to take private lessons where your teacher can work on your weak points and help you get to the next level. Global Lingua's online courses allow you to prepare for all kinds of English exams, regardless of your level.
Use a learning app like Babbel. Even with a busy day, it can be worthwhile to squeeze in some study time. If you have 15 minutes to spare (waiting in line at the store, waiting for the bus), you can do the Babbel exercises. A good way to refresh your memory between classes.
